So How Is Your Golf Swing?

Just got back from playing in a tournament near Dallas. We played at a course by the name of Indian Creek Golf Course in Carrollton, Texas. Actually there are two courses there and both are a challenge, having lots of water and plenty of sand bunkers.

When the tournament was over, I had claimed second place, finishing more than a few strokes out of first. The winner was Jay Mandola, who plays out of Houston and is a noted long ball hitter. I was only able to outhit him on two holes, one being a par 3 that challenged me after I teed off with a two foot uphill putt for a birdie! And to my relief, it went straight into the hole. Dwayne Jordan took third place just a shot behind me.

By the way, if you live anywhere in the area of Dallas and haven’t checked out this golf course, you can reach their site by going here: http://www.indiancreekgolfclub.com.

I mention the tournament only as a reminder to myself that I need to continue working on the distance that I get off of the tee, not to mention accuracy. After doing much research in recent weeks hoping to fine-tune my swing, I realize more than ever the importance that the legs play in the swing.

I had to fight off the temptation over the years not to grip my club like a baseball bat, and not to squeeze the life out of the handle on the backswing, and after improving on that point, I shifted my thoughts over to the need to get the legs involved.

We hope in the coming weeks to get some video lessons up and running on http://www.golfclubswing.com to provide some visual aids to our site. But, as you know, practicing to work out the kinks is the key.

When you are standing on the teebox, that is not the time to try to reminder 5 or 6 things that you need to be doing with your swing. And don’t be too tempted to spend $67 or so for these short videos that try to show you some shortcuts in a matter of a few minutes of how you can hit 300+ yard tee shots. It just doesn’t come that quickly and easily, but surely by now you know that.

Well, here’s to your success on your next round of golf. If you have something that you would like to share on this blog, be sure and send it to me and we will give it some consideration!

Until next time, hit ‘em straight!
